Technical Operating Environment Delivered – Key Milestone in Åland’s Implementation of Cambio COSMIC
The implementation of the healthcare information system Cambio COSMIC in Åland has reached a significant milestone. The technical operating environment, which forms the foundation for the system’s upcoming deployment, has now been delivered and approved by ÅHS, Åda, and the municipalities. This marks a crucial step in one of Åland’s most comprehensive digitalisation projects, aiming to create a modern, secure, and efficient system that strengthens the entire health and social care sector in Åland.
Cambio COSMIC will play a central role in modernising healthcare and social services, enhancing patient safety, increasing efficiency, and fostering stronger collaboration between healthcare and social care.
“The delivery of the technical operating environment is an important milestone that enables the next phase of the project – testing, training, and preparations for the system’s deployment this autumn. We are pleased with the close collaboration with ÅHS, Åda, and the municipalities, which has been essential in reaching this point,” says Mia Pettersson, Programme Manager at Cambio.
“This is a major step. We can now move forward with full momentum into the next phase – testing, training, and preparations for the system’s deployment this autumn. I am incredibly proud of how everyone has worked to ensure this milestone,” says Jeanette Pajunen, Project Owner for ÅHS.
“This approval marks an important milestone in our joint efforts. The supplier has met the agreed requirements for delivery, which means we are well positioned to complete the implementation of Cambio COSMIC as planned this autumn. Åda continues to provide technical expertise to support the municipalities in the ongoing implementation,” says Andreas Henriksson, Acting CEO of Åda.
“Having an approved operating environment in place is clear evidence of the strong and constructive collaboration between all parties. This is not just a technical delivery – it is a vital step towards realising the vision of more integrated and future-proofed health and social care in Åland. At the same time, it demonstrates that COSMIC is built on a modern, flexible, and open platform that can be successfully adapted to new markets and local needs,” says Rami Avidan, CEO of Cambio.
The project has followed a carefully planned timeline and will now take a scheduled break during July. Work will resume at the beginning of August, when the implementation continues in stages through close collaboration between Cambio, ÅHS, Åda, and the municipalities.
“While Åland may be small in size, this is a full-scale implementation for a comprehensive organization, making the project both complex and unique. The strong commitment from all involved, along with agile decision-making, has been a key strength throughout this journey,” concludes Mia Pettersson.
